Yesterday I had the pleasure (?)
of shooting pics at the Apex Trackday event on the West track at Miller.
It was cold, it was rainy, a little breezy – yeccchhh!
I don’t think it got over about 46 degrees, with a very wet track and an on/off drizzle all day. I’d been expecting some showers, but not quite like this.
Oh well, I figured, if the riders are willing to go out there and brave the elements, I might as well do the same. I wrapped up the camera in its poly coating, and off I went. It was cold (did I mention that already?), but it was good to get out on the west track and figure out which lenses would work best in various locations.
The biggest bummer parts were not being able to shoot facing west, as that’s the direction the wind was coming from, blowing drops directly on the lens – along with not being able to get to a few prime shooting spots due to deep mud in the infield.
The riders did a great job of making the most of a tough day. There was a big group of riders in the “C” group, and they really seemed to be having a good time.
